Everybody Loves A Fake

Table_somi1

A while back, our fellow member la brought up an interesting observation when he was checking out the most downloaded files from his uploads to the SLF File Server. Out of all of the files that he had uploaded, the top three most downloaded files were the ones containing photos of women who have been completely photoshopped.

When I first started collecting photos, fakes just consisted of someone taking someone’s head and slapping it on someone else’s body. Now it’s to the point where people can’t tell if they are looking at an actual person because of the amount of work done to the photo itself.

I don’t mind looking at fakes, but I prefer to look at a real person. What I am really interested in is how others feel about this phenomenon since I have only seen this done for photos of Asian women. Do you like fakes? Are you someone who makes them? Would this be considered an appreciation of Asian beauty when none of these women are real? Let’s hear it.

Very interesting topic, thanks for addressing it,having uploaded a lot of these,I have mixed feelings about it,and I think it comes down to semantics. They certainly are fake,as in synthetic, but not fake as in forgery. There is a popular photo floating around of Waka Inoue’s head on Naoko Inoue’s body,a sexy pic, though not well done, and of course it is deceptive. Breast implants are fake too,but meant to enhance what is already there, not make a complete mannequin. As for the appreciation of Asian beauty, they are Asian and they are beautiful, but merely as window dressing, however they can be appreciated as art(if skillfully done),however I much prefer the real thing. I have even heard it said that Jessica Rabbit of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is one of the sexiest movie characters of all time,of course she does not really exist and could never win an Oscar, but the person who created her certainly could have,so I guess the bottom line is that beneath all that sugar coating there is some reality anyway, even if the surface is just a sexy cartoon, thanks again!

Yes it was quite an eye opening discovery. The files that I uploaded were different than most that are found in the respect that they were all large pics whereas most are small (i.e. 400 X 600) and usually found as examples at Asian escort, adult sites. And end up in Identification threads regularly. Everybody wants to know “Who’s this?”. The large full size pics in my opinion truly are works of art. In the same respect to me as classic pin-up art. Similar to Domino’s Airbrush Emporium at ScanLover, http://forum.scanlover.com/showthread.php?t=35346 , only a step further in reality. As eye candy they are nice to look at but IMO will never replace an actual gravure photo of a model that you know is real flesh & blood, http://forum.scanlover.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1579068&d=1237173724 . Those uploads to files.scanlover are still #’s 1,2 &3 respectively but even “Mature” mainstay Aki Hoshino is close at thier heels.

These girls are nice to look at, but nothing beats flesh and blood.

The truth of the matter, when it comes to motivation, is that it’s just plain fun to play with asian pics when you’re in photoshop. I’ve never posted any of my tinkering online, but now I think I really should. I mean, so long as everyone knows that it’s a fake, I think use fake-makers might actually have a following of people that enjoy it — like the joy of remixing your favorite songs together.

I never considered fun as a motivational factor in this type of photoshopping, but it’s easy to see why now that I think about it. If you have your own work, share it on the forum.
