Anri Suzuki (鈴木杏里) offering “apology” to Chinese students for Japanese invasion of China

Source: Korea Times

When I saw this bit of news this morning, I couldn’t believe it. But not only does Anri Suzuki have a doctorate in history, but as a way to apologize for the Japanese invasion of China, she has been offering free sex sessions to the Chinese students who are studying in Japan. While focused on the Japanese invasion of China, Anri was shocked to learn about her country’s past, so she’s atoning for those past wrongdoings by offering sexual compensation.

If I was a Chinese student studying there, I would take her up on this offer in a heartbeat. You’d be silly not to. But I hope that this bit of news brings some attention to the readers here who are also unaware of the Japanese invasion of China, which is a history that doesn’t get much attention and when the Japanese government has repeatedly try to deny and remove from textbooks.

After the despicable atrocities the Japanese perpetrated on the people of Nanjing, too horrible to mention,Anri Suzuki will be an extremely busy girl trying to compensate for them,an impossible task, but I sincerely applaud her effort in attempting to atone for the past, things she had nothing to do with,so I am impressed by this gesture, and also hope it will shed more light on the subject.

Following the poor European media coverage of the controversy in recent years, I have got the impression that the allegations against the Japanese government were not at all that the government(!) had tried to remove anything from history textbooks. Rather, the government was criticized for not preventing private people from publishing history text books that play down wartime atrocities.

The criticism from Chinese side was that the Japanese government did NOT censor school text books. So I would not want to take sides in the textbook controversy.

Of course, there is no excuse for atrocities which should be condemned honestly. There seems to be lack of open discussion.

I fear that the effort of “compensation” by sex will be seen as insensitive. On the other hand, apparently no other effort of compensation had a convincing success either.

I agree, atonement by sex would seem insensitive, trivial, and tawdry, even insulting. I know families to whom Nanjing is still fresh in their minds, and to offer them sex as compensation for what they endured would be equal to a slap in the face, especially so,because most of the atrocities were sexual in nature (if mutilation could ever be considered sexual!) I have had a slight change of heart since my previous comment, while I still hope her actions cause more attention to be paid to this subject,it could also just be a stunt,or some sort of noble nymphomania,a grandiose gesture to feed a sex addiction, who knows?,but whatever her motivation,I hope it works!

I question whether any apology is necessary at all, especially by people who had nothing to do with it. As long as it’s recognised historically, that’s fine by me.

I’m pretty sure that Anri was unaware of what took place since it was such a long time ago, and maybe it wasn’t discussed much during her time going to school. So to me it seems that after learning what had happened while studying for her doctorate, she felt terrible about it and wanted to do something. So she’s trying to atone for what happened in her own way. And it’s probably not a big deal to her to have sex with Chinese students since she gets paid to have sex on camera, plus she is probably enjoying herself since she mentions that the Chinese guys are treating her better than the Japanese ones, but to the Chinese students that she is banging, it’s probably a great gesture, especially when she has nothing to do with anything that happened back then.

I am wondering if the Korea Times article happened to mention if she chooses who she apologizes to or does she take on all comers, and if she screens them first, what is her criteria for choosing them.

I wish that they would have went into more detail because there’s plenty that they could have written about this. But that’s why this blog is here.

Yes,it’s a fascinating story on many levels, and also leaves a lot of room for speculation, and if not for the blog,I would not have even heard about it.

I can only say…these guys who’ve read the article and left comments are very mature. Anyway, I’m off to Japan to become a student.

It turns out this not true. Anri clarified it on her blog.

This is a fake news story originally from a Hong Kong newspaper whose writer’s source was a user of a models/AV star forum posting about a dream scenario. It’s incredible how many other newspapers around the world have chosen to run with the story without validating it’s source.
