“TOKYO — Used to modeling in bikinis or underwear, Aya Takigawa, 22, found herself in a different mode this week when she wore futuristic get-up to an event in Tokyo held to promote the release of pachinko machine manufacturer Sammy’s new “Eureka Seven” machine.
“Eureka Seven” is an animation series set on Earth some 10,000 years after humans have abandoned it, and it aired in Japan for about a year starting in April 2005. The series has also been made into a movie as well as a computer game.
The new machines to be introduced in September feature scenes from the animation as well as scenes not released before. Takigawa, dressed up as Eureka, remarked that she had taken a liking to her costume, adding: “I’m pretty satisfied with the new machine too!”

“TOKYO — Has “talento” Miyu Uehara, 22, given up her poor-man’s act? This week, she played the role of “manager for a day” at luxury ice cream brand Patiscream’s Printemps Ginza store. She rode on a wave of notoriety for her 10 siblings and impoverished upbringing, but on this day she pushed cups of ice cream that cost 350 yen each.
Even so, Uehara said she had never been to Ginza for anything but work, explaining “I don’t really fit here in Ginza. It smells too much like rich people. Mmm, I wonder what I should do.. this ice cream is the best!”
Sources say this was Uehara’s first time working at a PR event for a luxury brand product. Uehara went on talking about her private life as normal. “Yesterday I bought two watermelon popsicles for 100 yen each. At home, my mother watered down the Calpis and froze it into dessert for us, but it was mostly water.”

“Gravure idol Miho Asagi (30) announced on Thursday that she is now married. Her husband is a 29-year-old man not in show business.
Asagi is a member of an idol group called Kekkonganbo, which means “desire to marry.” As the name suggests, the unit is composed of several idols who are looking for a marriage partner. Now that she has achieved her goal, Asagi will be graduating from the group, though she hopes to continue her entertainment career, likely outside of gravure modeling.”

“TOKYO — Celebrity Yuko Ogura, 25, attended a commemorative event this week celebrating sales of three million copies of the travel book series “Tabi no Sashi Kaiwacho” (Travel Handbook of Finger Pointing) at Tokyo’s Marunouchi Oazo.
The popular series allows travelers to communicate overseas simply by pointing at illustrations and words in the book, and currently covers 78 countries. At the event, a limited edition “Korin Seigo Version” (Korin Star Language Verison) was unveiled, where all words in the edition contained the suffix “rinko” or “pu.” Ogura, popularly known as Yukorin, and “talent” “Miracle Hikaru,” 29, carried out a “conversation” in the language, much to the amusement of the crowd. “These books are perfect for traveling abroad. Everyone here should give it a tryrinko,” Ogura said.
Ogura, who has described her “Korin Star” alien character as “getting to be a bit too much,” said, “I’ll do it for as long as I can.”

“Actress Wakana Sakai (28) and talento/comedian Bibiru Oki (34) are said to be in a relationship. The two have been friends for a long time but only recently started dating.
The two got to know each other back in 1999, while Oki was part of the owarai duo Bibiru. Over the years, they have often appeared on television together. They also spent a lot of time together off-screen as friends, consulting each other about their problems and sharing common interests such as history. Things eventually led to romance, and they apparently began dating just this past May.”

Miyu Uehara had witness a solar eclipse in her hometown in Kagoshima and talked about in a interview. She was impressed and excited as well doing a photo shoot. Also Miyu talked about the Goodwill Ambassador, participated in the swearing-in ceremony held at the city’s northern island Nishinoomote.
