“TOKYO — Actress Mao Inoue, 22, famous as Makino Tsukushi in “Hana yori dango,” and actor Jonathan Sherr, 35, will play husband and wife in the upcoming movie version of the popular comic book series “My Darling is a Foreigner.”
Written and illustrated by Saori Oguri, the comic books tell the tales of her life with Danish-American husband Tony Laszlo, as they encounter and overcome cultural differences and barriers. The series has sold over 2 million copies and snippets have been shown inside JR trains in Tokyo since 2007, providing comic relief for the crowds traveling to work and school and so forth.

A recent video of an Angela Zhang doppelganger has been making waves on the Internet, causing much distress for the Taiwanese pop singer, who is reportedly recuperating in Taiwan after being diagnosed with a heart illness (heart mitral valve prolapse) more than a year ago.
The video has “Angela” getting slapped by someone in a nightclub in China, which seemingly led to a violent gang fight afterwards. After news of the video broke loose on the internet, Angela’s manager stepped forth to clarify the malicious accusations thrown at her. He reiterated that she has been resting in Taiwan the whole time, and refuted rumours of Angela being the person in the video. Read more…

Hong Kong actress Christy Chung revealed that she’s expecting her third child during an appearance on a fitness-themed talk show in Shanghai on Tuesday, sohu.com reports.
Christy Chung is already a two-time mom who re-sculpted her post-pregnancy body into shape in only 41 days and slimmed down to 53 kg using a customized program from Marie France Bodyline, a leading fitness center that she endorses.
Chung seems to have gained some weight as she is now four months into her pregnancy.
She said the nutritionist at Marie France Bodyline has made a special program for her, and she firmly believes its weight loss techniques will help her stay in shape.
Chung, who already has two daughters, said she is hoping for a baby boy this time.

Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan’s latest fashion photoshoots are released online as her new film comes up within a few months.
“Chengdu, I Love You”, a three-part film capturing the city of Chengdu in its past, present and future, is Gao’s first cooperation with overseas director and actor.
The ‘present’ section, directed by Korean romantic film master Heo Jin-Ho, costars Korean actor Jung Woo-sung, winner of Best Actor in a supporting role at this year’s Asian Film Awards. This part will be taken out of the complete work and developed into a separate full-length feature due to its commercial value.
The ‘past’ and ‘future’ episodes of the collaboration are directed by Fruit Chan and rock veteran Cui Jian respectively.
The whole project will hit Chinese cinemas in early October.

“The drug case of Noriko Sakai and Yuichi Takaso still continues. The latest major development was last week’s discovery of a house in Chiba that the two often visited over the past few years. A police search found a small amount of amphetamines, along with some paraphernalia intended for using the drugs.
The house is located in the city of Katsuura, Chiba, about fifty meters from the beach. Takaso reportedly had been renting the place since five years ago, and eyewitnesses said they have often seen Takaso visiting the beach to surf, accompanied by Sakai and their son. In recent years, the two were seen at the beach separately – either Sakai with the son, or Takaso with his friends. However, the couple still sometimes went there together, with one source saying they were in the vicinity as recently as August 2, the day before Takaso’s arrest.

“TOKYO — Actress Erika Toda, 20, and actor Shota Matsuda, 23, were on hand recently at an event announcing the simultaneous production of the Fuji TV serial drama, “Liar Game Season 2” (which begins in November, Tuesdays at 9 p.m.) and the movie “Liar Game: The Final Stage” (directed by Hiroaki Matsumoto and scheduled for release Feb 6, 2010).
The show skyrocketed to popularity since its start in April of last year, moving from 11 p.m. on Saturdays to a prime time slot, and is now celebrating a second season and plans for the creation of a movie. The second season will focus on the semifinals of the white-knuckle brain game, while the movie will document the finals competition.
When asked what she would do if she won the 5 billion yen grand prize, Toda replied, “I’d buy a house in some place like Okinawa, then save the rest,” while Matsuda said, “I’d make a movie theater and name it after myself. Then I’d only show movies I made.”
Toda’s character is a university student who plays the game to the bitter end despite being repeatedly fooled. When tested with the game at the event, she lost hands down. On the other hand, Matsuda made it to the final two, keeping up appearances for his swindler character.”

“TOKYO — Actress-singer Saki Fukuda, 18, this week marked the sale of her first single in 2 1/2 years, “Ashita he no Hikari.” She performed the single and another song in front of an audience of about 1,000 fans, the first time in three years she’s sung on stage before a crowd. Waving to the crowd, she said, “This feels great, I want to do more performances. Thanks for coming on such a hot day!”
Fukuda is currently starring in the Fuji TV drama, “Maid Deka,” as a maid-detective who fights the bad guys with her slogan, “Allow me to clean up the dirt of this evil.” When asked “What bad thing would you like to ‘clean’ from the world?” the actress laughed and said, “I hate it when people walk while smoking, so I would want to get rid of cigarettes. I’d use the ‘Cutie Cleaner’ (a special mop she uses in the TV program) to hit the arms of people carrying cigarettes.”
